There are lots of ways to spruce up the basic grey flannel sport coat, but a favorite look of mine this season is the twill piped version at J.Crew. The contrast edging creates a bolder look that is a little more formal, but can easily be paired with denim. You may notice that on the right side (although not shown in the picture below) there is an additional pocket. This pocket is known as a ticket pocket and dates back to the days when men wanted an extra pocket to hold their train pass. It is always above the other pockets and usually is about 1/2 to 2/3's as big as the pocket below. Combine this "mark of a tailor" with the functional cuff buttons, and one could easily mistake this blazer for a more expensive brand.
Final Verdict: For something new this season check this item out. The boiled wool gives it that old-world feel but with the classic J.Crew tailoring. It also doesn't hurt that you can pick this up for under the $200 mark.
